Italian Style White Beans | イタリア風白豆

Here is a very simple ‘bean lovers’ recipe, which my ‘gourmet friend’ brought over using a ‘white bean’ which happens to be one of my favorite beans. I sort of gathered the taste and made it into my own recipe as my husband may like it.

It’s simple….

and serves as a nice side dish to pastas or risottos.

Italian style White Beans

  • 300g White Beans
  • 3~4 slices of bacon
  • 1/4 chopped onions
  • 1/4 chopped leaks
  • 2 tablespoons of parsley
  • Olive Oil
  1. Soak the dried white beans overnight (at least for 12 hours) in water.
  2. Bring the white beans to boil and drain the water to extract the froth.
  3. Using a hot pot, boil the white bean for about 2 hours with a sprinkle of salt until the beans become nice and soft.
  4. Sautee the bacon, onions, leaks with olive oil and add the parsley last.
  5. Make sure that the vegetables are well marinated with olive oil.
  6. Add the vegetables to the boiled white beans and toss it so it is well mixed together. Adjust with salt and pepper, if preferred slight sprinkle a tad of L’herbes de provence.

Italian Style White Beans  イタリアンスタイル白豆

  • 白豆‥‥‥‥‥300g
  • 玉葱‥‥‥‥‥1/4個
  • ネギ‥‥‥‥‥1/4本
  • ベーコン‥‥‥‥‥3〜4枚
  • パセリ‥‥‥大匙2位
  • オリーブオイル
  1. 白豆は一晩(最低でも12時間ほど)お水につけておきます。
  2. 翌朝、煮ます。一端沸騰をさせアクをとり、お水を一度取り替えます。
  3. お鍋はなるべくホウロウの厚い鍋を使いうとほっこりと煮えます。コトコト2時間以上煮ます。
  4. 少しオリーブオイルを多めに使い、弱火でみじん切りのベーコン、玉葱、ネギを炒めます。
  5. 最後にパセリを散らし白豆に混ぜます。
  6. 塩、胡椒で味付けをして完成です。お好みのハーブを足してもOK!
